New Season
So here’s all the details on the upcoming 2021 campaign.
First of all, it’s going to be know as the 2021 campaign. That is something I could get used to.
As hockey begins and we all rejoice, you’d think I’d have less to complain about…you’d think that, wouldn’t you?
The NHL made sure to issue one last ‘f-you’ to all of last seasons lottery teams:
A team not in the playoff bubble will begin training camp on New Year’s Eve, despite the initial reports being that they would start a tad bit earlier. Also…New Years Eve? They shoulda let these boys start earlier or get trashed one last time before camp. Regardless, my excitement for the coming season will relax my sphincter enough to get through this news.
Helene St. James made note that the season needs to end before the Olympics on July 23rd. More of an assumption (that I agree with) from the hockey media, but if you were the NHL, wouldn’t you do the same? We all love hockey, but the Olympics is its own bag of worms.
Furthermore, ElliotteFriedman reports teams will be allowed to expand rosters from 21 to 23, plus a four-to-six player taxi squad. If a player opts out of the season, a team can decide whether that player still owes them a year (so, as an example, the Wings signed Bobby Ryan to a one-year deal. If he decides to opt-out, general manager Steve Yzerman could decide Ryan then owes the team the 2021-22 season).
And who are we going to be playing for a majority of the season? Here is the Red Wings new Division for 2021: Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Florida Panthers, Dallas Stars, Nashville Predators, and Tampa Bay Lightning.
That’s right! The Tampa Bay Lightning and Dallas Stars, the reigning Stanley Cup Champions and runner-ups, are gonna get to beat up on the Wings all season.
We got even more updates from Pierre LeBrun after recording:
BE THE GM
Rochester Mills 12 Days of Christmas - Red Velvet Milkshake Stout
The Brothers of Discussion are excited and proud to present their first beer tasting of the network. We’re going festive for the holiday season and decided to sample Rochester Mills’ 12 Days of Christmas Beer Package. The Brothers will be tasting the beers for a flavor match to the beer’s name, drinkability, the packaging, and provide an overall score (weighted by the drinkability).
Rochester Mills is a Michigan Brewery, famous in the state for its 12 Days of Christmas Box Set. Released on an annual basis, the brewery tinkers with the list of 12 beers, but always follows through with a smooth, milk-like base.
On the menu for today’s episode: Red Velvet Milkshake Stout. - Red velvet is made with cocoa powder, vinegar, and buttermilk. The chemical reaction between these ingredients helps give the cake a deep maroon color that is often enhanced by the extra food coloring. How much of that Red Velvet flavor do we actually taste and were we lucky enough to find some cream cheese frosting?
