Red Wings vs Columbus Blue Jackets

Red Wings vs Blue Jackets this Season 3-2-1 (.583 points percentage)

Red Wings have their best xGF performance of the season: 3.14 (2nd best was also against the Blue Jackets at 2.44).

This was also the Red Wings’ 4th worst xGA game. As discussed in the last episode, this means the Red Wings have 3 of their worst defensive performances since the trade deadline. The loss of Jon Merrill and Patrik Nemeth, along with more injuries, is certainly a piece of the correlation variables.

Top performers vs Columbus:

  • Thomas Greiss: 0 GA with a 2.89 xGA

  • Vrana with 1 ixG

  • Veleno with 14:58 ice time, 52.38 CF%, 54.18 xGF%, solid 54 seconds of PP time (.24 xGF)

Red Wings Top Three Prospects

Lucas Raymond

From Winging it in Motown - The Red Wings’ top pick in 2021, had a breakout season in the SHL with Frolunda before going down with an injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the season and playoffs. In 34 games the 19-year-old registered 18 points (6-12—18). The last game Raymond suited up for was in February, which means he should be close to returning to full health soon.

What is unclear right now is where he’ll go. Raymond could join the Griffins on an amateur tryout contract before the season is over. My guess is that the team wants to get him back to playing hockey as soon as possible.

Jonatan Berggren facing Moritz Seider in the SHL Playoffs (Series tied 2-2).

Jonatan Berggren has 4 points in 11 playoff games for Skellefteå AIK

Moritz Seider (Rogle)

  • missed one game due to injury- 2 points in 7 playoff games - absolute wrecking ball

  • Veleno on Seider - “He’s been outstanding in every aspect of the game, I think especially physically,” Veleno said of Seider. “He’s also able to produce offense to join the rush. He’s just improved in so many areas of the game.”

  • Seider just won the Elite Prospects 2021 SHL award

Trade Proposal for Shane Wright in 2022
