So we can all agree that Drew McIntyre is going to turn on Dolph Ziggler, right? And we also all predicted that Dean Ambrose was going to turn heel and smash a crack into the Shield, right?

Okay, good. I was just making sure.

This past Monday the WWE Universe was teased, not one, but two different character turns: the face turn of Drew McIntyre and the heel turn of Dean Ambrose. Both of these story lines are very intriguing and make for a juicy drama going forward, but of the two, which will happen first?

I thought about this for…oh…I don’t know…maybe two minutes? And its hard to figure out where the story goes from there. At least one that hasn’t been done before.

Dean will abandon the Shield and will more than likely feud with Seth Rollins. You know…because Roman is too good to waste his time with that bologna. McIntyre will do much of the same, finding himself pounding Ziggler’s face into the mat. Neither man will really join the other side, but will become a strong, independent figure, who dominates with their own style and brand of punishment.

I see it as the creation of two different fringe (not the lunatic style) characters, who are neither strictly face or heel, but will look out for their best interest. Even if it means hurting their ‘brothers’ in the process. It’ll be the best way for these characters to make sense and also not be a complete re-tread of every other story that’s like this.

That idea I proposed is fine. It makes sense…somewhat…and adds some fuel and star power to the roster. But I do wonder if there is a better way to do these character turns, because otherwise I just developed the next three months of content for the WWE, without breaking a sweat. Is it more fun is to see both of these guys team up to take down the respective burdens together? Dean, taking out Seth, and Drew taking out Dolph. Their ultimate target being the Universal Championship.

Its hard to make that work, because Dolph Ziggler has helped McIntyre make it to the top of the tag division in a matter of months. I wouldn’t say that he’s being held down at all. Or at the very least, they need to see Dolph ruin McIntyre’s chances at making it to the next level. McIntyre and Ziggler taking out the Revival this past week makes that need even more dire, as Ziggler not only helped get the win, but he made the final pin.

For Dean, he just needs to point at all of the titles that Seth and Roman have been apart of and compare that to his empty hands and waist. At this point, it actually does look like Dean is just the bodyguard to Seth and Roman. His success is making sure that his buddies hold onto their belts. What’s ironic, is that he’ll be telling the opposite story of Charlotte Flair since Dean would turn heel after turning his back on his friends.

Maybe it makes more sense, since Ambrose is a lot closer to turning heel than McIntyre, to not have these two stories intertwine. It also means that the answer to my question of “who turns first?” is easily Dean Ambrose. Drew, while I know I want him to be the Champion in the next year, has to hope for some more suds to be added to the soap opera before he can scrub his heel personality clean.

What do you think? Will Dean Ambrose even turn heel? Is McIntyre only weeks away? Is it time for either one of them? How would you handle the character turns? Let us know in the comments below and continue the conversation on social media!
