Destined for More, but Who Needs the Win?

Andrade "Cien" Almas lets Rusev taste his boot on SmackDown Live. Courtesy of the WWE.

If we have to accept that these guys are in this situation then so be it. Rusev and Lana will face off with Andrade "Cien" Almas and Zelina Vega in a mixed tag match. Both Rusev and Andrade "Cien" Almas are going to be greater things. Rusev, because he's done so many great things in the past year. Almas, because he's a damn fine wrestler. But for now, they are pre-show festivities.

I'm going to make this one quick, because I want to go to bed. But also because this match will feel like a blip to these four superstars in a year. Also...Rusev has let us know how excited he is to be involved in this match:

That's sarcasm.

Rusev and Lana are going to move onto a storyline that will, unfortunately, doom Rusev Day. I can't see this going any other way. And Almas is looking to skyrocket to legitimacy. Whether that means main event status or a tour in the mid card.

For those two things to happen, Rusev must lose and its going to be the fault of Aiden English. I know its predictable and eye-roll inducing, but its going to happen. Double stamp that guarantee. No wait...Triple stamp it...

This is good news for Almas, because while he's already known for his crafty heel tendencies, a win that revolves around 'controversy' will help build his character for WWE fans. If you don't know Almas, he's fresh off a stint in NXT that was loaded with assistance from Zelina Vega. The fact that she is sticking with Almas tells us that we are in store for more shenanigans. And don't for a second think that Almas would be anything without her.

For Rusev fans...just prepare yourself. I know we all love Rusev Day and it was honestly one of the best results superstars have earned with a silly gimmick. Aiden English has been given too many chances and there is almost no way he walks out of SummerSlam with his dignity in tact. If you're worried about Rusev's future, then make sure you don't even begin to consider Aiden English's.

When English eventually makes his presence known, it'll be the end of Rusev Day and the beginning of Andrade "Cien" Almas' rise to stardom.

We are fully booked booked for SummerSlam! I am loving this card. If you haven't made plans yet, don't forget to be on your couch on August 19th for the biggest show of the summer! Catch up with the Brothers of Discussion Analysis of every match here on BODPodcast.com
