Why Should Seth Rollins Win the Intercontinental Championship?

By far, the guy who needs the victory the least. I know…what a great way to start out this article.

But no! Hear me out! Seth, just like Finn and the Miz, could use this victory for the betterment of the WWE.

1.       Seth has proven himself a worthy IC Champion and can keep the title interesting.

Seth Rollins has been burning it down for weeks and months as a guy we knew was out of the title picture (well…back since November since we knew Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar were destined for WrestleMania). Despite all of that, Seth has given us one amazing match after another. He comes to every Monday Night Raw looking to give us another match for the ages and I’ll say he has yet to disappoint.

If there is some odd “prove yourself before we can make you Universal Champion” type of politics going on in the WWE, then this is the perfect way for Seth to do it. Let him carry the title as John Cena used to carry the US Title. Let him defend it every week and continue to make this a title you earn. Not just to win it, but to hold it. Only the best can prevail and we know Seth is good for it.

2.       The Miz and Finn Balor could be bad guys to Roman Reigns as Universal Champion.

While most reasons for guys winning titles should be focused on the guy winning it, Seth is the better man because of what should be in store for The Miz and Finn Balor. Let’s not forget that Roman Reigns is going over on Lesnar this weekend. Roman is going to need a feud and the WWE is always lacking when it comes to true heels.

Now, obviously Finn Balor is not a true heel, but he can toe the line. The Miz…is definitely your man. Both of these guys would be able to make Roman look like gold and a true Universal Champion. Finn in the ring and The Miz on the mic. Either one of those elements would fit the WWE’s ultimate plan of having Roman Reigns eventually marry Triple H and Stephanie’s kids, so he can one day take over for Triple H (I kid, I kid!).

Regardless of Roman’s long term future, his short term future is more likely to mixed with the Miz and Finn Balor over what might be a tired feud at this point, with Seth Rollins.

3.       Seth is in a perfect spot to stay on Raw

Continuing the trend of dissecting other situations to ensure Seth Rollins is the best solution for this square hole (square peg…square hole…eh…I’m tired), let’s take a look at the fact that the Miz and Finn Balor are more likely to leave Raw.

SmackDown Live, now with the addition of Daniel Bryan, is the place to be. Two huge feuds that the WWE fans want to see happen are on SmackDown Live and both involve Finn Balor and The Miz. As I alluded to, the Miz would be a prime candidate for Daniel Bryan at some point. They were setting up this match a year ago and even before that. If anyone were to guess at a long term feud for Daniel Bryan, now that he has returned, the Miz is the first to come to mind.

For Finn Balor, I think we are all waiting to see some sort of feud come from the past relationships of the Bullet Club. Even with the WWE’s rebranding (first to “the Club” and now “Balor Club”), it’s a topic that was so huge in pro wrestling at the time, its hard for any to forget. I wrote a week ago how the WWE has to be lucky sometimes and this is something that they were lucky enough to have write themselves. Both former leaders of the Bullet Club, Finn Balor and AJ Styles, need to clash in the year before we wave goodbye to AJ forever.

Ultimately, I have decided I will be happy with any of these guys winning the title. This WrestleMania is truly shaping up to be something special and to know there are so many matches that will provide good ol fashioned wresting is a wonderful thought.

Enjoy the show and tell us who you think should win the Intercontinental Championship!
