It was that time of the week again. That time when two superstars, who have a budding respect for each other, are put in a tag match to attempt to bring some controversy to their feud.

WWE Championship Feud: Daniel Bryan vs AJ Styles

A week ago, we were forced to watch AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan team up, before they battle for the WWE Championship at Crown Jewel (hopefully not in Saudi Arabia…but…its probably too late). Rightfully so, the Brothers Uce, walked away with the win, but due to an accidental strike between tag partners: Bryan to Styles (which matches story line, since they shouldn’t be in sync and would actually result in hitting each other).

The Uso’s should win that bout. They are one of the top tag teams in the game and have been for over 5 years. It would be a slap to the face of the tag division if Bryan and Styles, without any previous work together as a team, were to beat the Uso’s.

As we said, the Uso’s won, so all is right with the world.

The new issue is that Bryan is Styles is being booked so flat and lame, they decided to give the two another shot at beating the Uso’s on SmackDown Live.

Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles vs the Uso’s - Part II

Similar to the match a week ago, the team of Styles and Bryan appeared to find some chemistry and strung together some pretty good offense that came close to putting away the Uso’s.

But, close to the end of the match, AJ Styles miscalculated his flying forearm and nearly clocked Bryan. Bryan and Styles shook it off and attempted to grab the Uso in the ring (sorry, I’ll never be able to tell them apart) to nail a pele-kick, but even that backfired. After Bryan clocked Styles last week, the somewhat predictable and over-used dynamic accidental payback, Styles landed his kick on Bryan.

And again, the story of these two not being a good tag team works. They should lose to the Uso’s and having them lose because they look like a ‘green’ tag team, is perfect.

I don’t give the WWE a ton of credit here, because why not build up any other tag team on the roster. The same could have been accomplished with Sanity, who are in desperate need of a win and in desperate need of some TV time. And I don’t mean to suggest that the Uso’s are completely erased from the program, but there was definitely an opportunity to pass out the victories to teams who need it and an chance to keep things fresh.

So, the tag team of Bryan and Styles, is now a two-time loser.

Daniel Bryan Taunts with a ‘Too-Sweet’

While most of this feud has come off flat, we do know these two wrestlers, Styles and Bryan, will bring it. They take immense pride in their ability to wrestle and this has been deemed a “dream match” for a reason. these two are also booked as face’s and this ‘one-off’ booking, is not enough to justify a heel turn for either man.

So, it’s understandable to not expect fantastic story telling, when it comes to booking this match. We won’t have any notions of ‘pure evil’, like we got from Samoa Joe. We also won’t get any cocky, a-hole, type of actions, like we might expect from an over-powering bruiser. And of course, nothing as great as seeing either of these superstars face off with the Miz.

And what’s funny is that it feels like I’m working up to a “but”. A “I know this is bad, but it got so much better!”. It didn’t though. It was more…cute…than anything.

Daniel insinuated that AJ Styles was a liar, when AJ said his kick to Daniel’s head was an accident. Bryan made reference to Pinocchio and how AJ’s nose was growing. And then asked AJ if his reference of Pinocchio was too sweet, while putting up the unmistakable formation with his hand, that NWO and the Bullet Club made famous.

Does it mean anything for Bryan? No. does it mean anything for AJ? Probably not. As a fan of history and the potential creativity that could follow an introduction of a Balor/Bullet/Styles Club, at least we’re being reminded this is a thing .

It was a fun nod for Daniel to throw up on National TV, but I’m not even sure why AJ would be angered by it. If anything, it feels like imitation, which as well know, is the sincerest form of flattery.

Crown Jewel, WWE Championship Match

Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles will clash at Crown Jewel for the WWE Championship. It would be great to see something similar to the bout AJ had with Finn Balor last year, but I think we’re going to see a pretty good match that’ll be coached to “not overshadow the main event”.

I think for the WWE to get the feud between Daniel Bryan and the Miz right, AJ Styles should walk away with the victory. And, as we all know, will result in the Miz getting a chance to fight AJ for the title. Give Miz that title and have Daniel find a way to get back to the main event by defeating AJ Styles and getting a shot to win the title. Miz vs Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania please!

Please!!!!
